The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will host a meeting in Bloomfield Tuesday night to discuss Chronic Wasting Disease( CWD) in deer. The meeting will be held in the Davis County Courtroom at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is being held because of the heightened importance of the disease after a hunting preserve in Davis County removed sections of a fence around a quarantined area. DNR officials will also seek the help of local and area hunters to test for CWD during hunting season in deer that are harvested.
The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. The board will discuss the installation of a panic phone service to the South Central Behavioral Health office, consider support for a CAT grant, host a public hearing on a road vacation at 10 a.m. and they will meet with tourism representatives to discuss a community foundation grant. The board will meet with John Hansen at 11 a.m. to discuss the possibility of securing funds from Southern Iowa Electric Cooperative for the jail construction.
Rev. Richard A. "Dick" Iles, 73, of Mount Pleasant died Oct. 9, 2015 at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winfield. Lady Mustangs finish 2-1 in DC Invite, host E-B-F Tuesday
The Lady Mustang volleyball team finished with a 2-1 record in last Saturday’s Davis County Invitational. Davis County scored 2-0 wins over WACO and Albia before suffering a 2-1 loss to Cardinal in the semi-final round. Centerville wonn the tournament. Davis County returns to action Tuesday night for its final match of the South Central Conference season. Davis County will host Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont. Action begins at 5 p.m. with the freshmen match. The junior varsity and varsity matches will follow.
he Mustang football team dropped to 1-6 last Friday night after suffering a 48-0 loss to North Polk in Class 2A District 7 action. Davis County will host Centerville Friday night in the annual Pennant Game. It will also be the final Class 2A District 7 game of the season.
