The Bloomfield City Council approved a resolution Thursday night to issue water revenue capital loan notes in the amount of $3.5 million to help finance the city’s plans to hook up to Rathbun Rural Water. The vote was taken Thursday night following a public hearing.
The council also agreed to participate in an Iowa Department of Energy Management Program Grant. Butch Priester was appointed to the Bloomfield Historic Preservation Commission.
The Davis County School board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday night, Oct. 20. The board will consider contracts, resignations, hear an IASB Group Dividend presentation, conduct a public hearing on the innovative calendar, hear information on enrollment and approve a representative to the Davis County Day Care Board.
The board will also consider a high school baseball out-of-state request, a SAFE room contract, approve a fuel purchase from the Davis County Treasurer and an FFA fruit purchase.
The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. The board will discuss a contract with Waste Management at 9 a.m. and will meet with Sheriff Dave Davis at 10 a.m. regarding credit card use and ammunition purchases.
The board will discuss a grant application for the Bloomfield Senior Citizens Center at 10:15 a.m. and will meet with CPC Diane Buss at 10:30 a.m. They will discuss a contract with the Davis Center at 10:45 a.m. and will meet with Judy Combs at 11 a.m. regarding a Davis County Foundation Grant.
DPW Ted Henderson announced Friday that the East Street intersection will be closed Friday and will remain closed until the end of the project. This leaves no access for residents who live between East Street and Brown Street forcing them to park either one of those two streets.
The closing of the East Street intersection also cuts off full access to the high school parking lot, which means students will have to park in the pool parking and in other locations.
The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Davis County Courthouse. The board will meet with secondary roads at 9 a.m. and will meet with Eileen Taylor at 10 a.m. in regard to the Welcome Center. Taylor is seeking the supervisors’ support on a letter in regards to a grant application.
The board will discuss an advertisement for Area XV Regional Housing Authority at 10:15 a.m. and will meet with CPC Diane Buss at 10:30 a.m. The board will discuss a contract for Davis Center at 10:45 a.m.
The Davis County Youth Cross Country program will host its fourth annual cross country meet for kids between the ages of 5-18. The meet will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Fisher Shelter House. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Hospital board to hold special meeting Monday night
The Davis County Hospital Board will host a special meeting Monday night in Conference Room D. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The board will discuss the 2014 fiscal year audit and is expected to take action on it. The board will also consider the approval of the sale of property at 418 Goode Street, and will also consider the sale of property through sealed bids.
The board is also expected to discuss physician recruitment.
The Davis County School Board is looking into refinancing sales tax bonds.
The board is looking at a refinancing plan that could drop interest rates on the bonds by three percent. It could generate a savings of an estimated $860,000 to $1.4 million for the district depending on which option the board chooses.
The board also discussed the condition of school district facilities and also held a closed session to discuss the purchase of property.
The Davis County Hospital board hosted a special meeting Monday night Oct. 13. The board accepted an offer of $185,000 to sell the house at 418 Goode Street in Bloomfield. Kirby Johnson, the new hospital CEO, made the offer to purchase the home.
The Hospital also accepted a bid from Megan Archer to purchase a lot and storage shed in the 600 block of West Franklin Street in Bloomfield. The board also accepted a bid from Bernice Lister and Karen Hull for a mobile home located on Madison Street near the hospital. The mobile home must now be moved off the property.
The Bloomfield City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Marilyn L. Ridgeway, 79, of rural Bloomfield died Friday, October 17, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with Rev. Jesse Hill officiating. Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with family present from 4-6 p.m. A private family burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery west of Keosauqua.
Memorials have been established to Hospice of Wapello/Davis Counties or the Pittsburg Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 17689 Varnish Trail, Bloomfield, IA 52537.
The Lady Mustang volleyball team went 2-0 Thursday night in matches against Cardinal and Van Buren. Davis County beat Van Buren 2-0 with set scores of 25-12 and 25-6. They beat Cardinal 2-1, winning 27-15 and 15-0. Cardinal won the second set 25-20.
The girls travel to Fairfield Saturday for the Fairfield Tournament. Action begins at 9 a.m.
The Davis County boys’ and girls’ cross country teams both won first place in the South Central Conference Meet held Thursday evening in Albia
Zach Hougland led the boys’ effort with a second place finish. Doug Turner and Coty Good finished third and fourth respectively. Kalleigh Tharp led the girls’ effort with a third place finish. Addie McKee finished fourth.
The Mustang football team travels to Centerville Friday night to take on the Big Reds in the class 2A District 7 game. Friday night’s game is also known as the Pennant Game. The winner of the game gets to take possession of pennants from both schools and keep them until the next time the two teams meet on the football field.
Centerville beat Davis County 30-13 a year ago and won the right to keep the pennants.
