The Davis County School Board discussed maintenance issues Monday Thursday night during a special meeting. Several people attended the meeting to ask questions about the schools maintenance. The meeting began with Superintendent Dan Maeder giving a short presentation on school finance and how it works. He explained that the district was working with less money in its general fund due to inequities in funding due to transportation costs. He also took time to explain how efficient the district was with expenses and other areas but admitted there was always room for improvement. The board talked about outsourcing maintenance issues due to lack of staff. The board also talked about the need to reduce spending on maintenance by doing more things in-house, which may mean hiring more maintenance staff. No decisions were made but the board will continue discussions about maintenance issues at a later time.
