Council to meet Thursday night

The Bloomfield City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday night to review information for an eLab Grant. The council will also review information for an Operator Americorps Grant. At 7 p.m., the council will discuss the purchase of equipment, host a public hearing on the city budget, consider hiring an employee for energy efficiency, consider an employee resignation and review applications for hotel motel tax revenue distribution.

High school to present 'Cinderella'

The Davis County High School will present the musical “Cinderella” Thursday and Friday nights at the Iowa Theatre. Performances begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are available at the door.

Meeting set to discuss recreational room

The Davis County Old School Social Center will host a planning meeting Friday at 6 p.m. The meeting is being held to discuss a recreational room for youth at the center to include high school and college students. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Controversy arises over guns at hospital

Dr. Sean Brodale has proposed changing the  Davis County Hospital policy on banning guns to allowing staff members and visitors with concealed carry permits to bring weapons into the hospital. He feels changing the policy will increase safety. Gleam Dabney

Madlyn Gleam Dabney, 87, of Bloomfield died March 3, 2015. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the Wagler Funeral Home with Minister Kevin Mote officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to the Savannah Christian Church.

Lady Mustangs named to all-conference squad

Three Lady Mustang basketball players were honored last week with selection onto the South Central Conference All-Conference teams. Kate Birchmier was named a first-team selection. Mallory Wells and Mchelle Allen were named second team selections. Birchmier was also recently honored as a member of the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.
