Band members sought

Former members of the Davis Coujnty High School Marching band are encouraged to become a part of the alumni band, which will perform during the annual Davis County Festival of Bands on Oct. 1. Anyone interested in participating is asked to contact Justin Crady at jac414@hotmail.com or to current high school band director Aaron Ottmar at aaron.ottmar@dcmustangs.com. Organizers need to know what instruments will be used and will also send out music to musicians in advance.

Supervisors to meet Monday

The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. The board will meet with Randy Norman at 8:50 a.m. and will meet with secondary roads at 9 a.m. The board will host a public hearing at 10 a.m. to discuss a county watershed project. In other action, the board will meet with Megan Clyman to discuss courtyard Christmas decorations.They will discuss and employee wellness program an ordinance on a weapon free zone and will consider a change in the pay for election workers.

Pumpkin weigh-off to be held Saturday

A first annual giant pumpkin weigh-off will be held Saturday at the Davis County Fairgrounds. The weigh-off will be held from 10 a.m. until noon and anyone who grows giant pumpkins is encouraged to attend the event. The weigh-off will be held in the Blue Ribbon Barn on the Davis County Fairgrounds. The event is open to the public and people are encouraged to bring cameras and come have their pictures taken with the pumpkins.

Baseball/Softball scoreboards

Cross country teams are third at Lake Darling

The Davis County cross country teams competed in the Lake Darling Invitational Saturday. The meet was actually held at Fairfield's Waterworks Park. The Lady Mustangs finished third overall as a team with just 18 points. The boys' team finished third with 14 points. Davis County travels to Clarke Tuesday for the Indian Invitational. Action begins at 5 p.m.

Volleyball team set to face Knoxville

The Lady Mustang volleyball team finished with a 2-2 record and was third overall in the Burlington Tournament last Saturday. Davis County won matches over Fairfield and Mount Pleasant, but suffered losses to Galesburg, Illinois and Burlington. Davis County returns to action Tuesday night hosting Knoxville. Action begins at 5 p.m. with the freshman game. The junior varsity and varsity games will follow.

Clarke beats Davis County

The Mustang football team suffered a 28-21 loss to Clarke Friday night and fell to 1-4 this season. The loss drops Davis County to 0-3 in Class 2A District 6 play. Davis County moves on to face Centerville Friday night in the annual Pennant Game. Action begins at 7:30 p.m. in Centerville.
