The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
The board will meet with custodian Russell Lundstrum at 8:50 a.m.
The secondary roads department will meet at 9 a.m. to discuss payment of the Berryman/SIDCA project, a speed limit change on Nuthatch between 215th Street and Highway 2. They will discuss bridge issues with Charlie Scott and sign a funding agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation in regard to the Polkey Bridge.
The board will meet with Lynn Fellinger at 10 a.m. in regard to health screenings and with CPC Diane Buss at 10:30 to discuss mental health issues.
The Davis County Community School Board will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15.
The agenda calls for the board to hold its annual meeting.
The board will also consider contracts, resignations, certified staff salary, lane changes, a request to purchase books, a middle school uniform request, the innovative calendar committee, and policy review.
The board will also discuss an operational sharing agreement for human resources with Van Buren and Cardinal School Districts.
Lightning caused power outages in the south and west sections of Bloomfield last night.
Hamilton Produce suffered a lightning strike, which exploded the meter on the exterior of the building. Ray Murrell reported that power was restored to the business by mid-morning.
The Bloomfield Democrat also suffered damage from the lightning strike as one computer and two large printers were ruined. The office was also without Internet for a while as were other local businesses and residences.
Bloomfield Main Street will be hosting “Rock Around the Clock” from 4-8 p.m. Sunday in the courtyard.
Clock repairman Rory DeMesy will be returning the courthouse clock to Bloomfield that afternoon. He will have the clockworks on display in the courtyard during the event so that the public may come and see the inner workings of the clock and learn how it works.
The clock will be taken to the top of the courthouse Monday morning for installation.
With the help of 13 business sponsors, free hot dogs and marshmallows will be available for the public to roast in fire pits on the courtyard drive.
There will also be children’s games, and the gigantic jukebox built for 2003 RAGBRAI will also be on display.
Mayor Chris Miller and other city officials will meet with the public to discuss city and community issues at Lunch with the Mayor Friday. The public is invited to the meeting at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Rancho Centinela.
Davis County Recorder Megan Clyman is urging local residents to be cautious if they receive a mailing asking if they want a copy of their land or property deeds.
There are companies trying to prey on constituents, she said, by selling them copies of their own deeds. Clyman said anyone receiving such a letter or who has already sent money for this service should visit her office for help in working with the Attorney General’s Office.
Ida May Lundstrum, 90, of Bloomfield, Iowa died September 12, 2014 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Wagler Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Pulaski Cemetery.

Zach Hougland won the individual championship Thursday night in the Lake Fisher Invitational.
Hougland led the Mustangs to a second place finish behind Albia. Albia beat the Mustangs by just three points in the meet.
The Lady Mustangs won the team championship in the girls’ race.
Davis County returns to action Tuesday at the Van Buren Invitational, which was rescheduled after being postponed earlier this week. Tuesday’s meet will begin at 5 p.m. at the Riverview Country Club In Keosauqua.
