Teachers begin contract talks

The Davis County School board met with the teachers union Wednesday to begin contract negotiations. The teachers presented a contract proposal calling for a 6.9 percent wage increase, including base salary, and longevity incentives. The proposal included proposed changes to personal leave and severance pay. The board accepted the proposal but didn’t offer any response.

Council to conduct performance evaluations

The Bloomfield City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday night in closed session. The council will conduct performance evaluations for DPW Ted Henderson, City Clerk Carol Taylor and Police Chief Shawn Armstrong.

Parent-teacher conferences to be held

Parent-teacher conferences will take  place as scheduled Thursday afternoon from 1-8 p.m. in the Davis County Schools. Due to conferences there will be no classes on Friday. Regular classes will resume on Monday.

School board to begin contract negotiations

The Davis County School board will hold a special meeting Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. The board will meet with the Davis County Community Education Association bargaining unit. The board is expected to receive an initial contract proposal from the teacher’s union to begin contract negotiations.

Brodale proposes change to hospital gun policy

Dr. Sean Brodale hosted a meeting Tuesday night to talk about changing hospital policy to allow guns in the hospital. Several community members showed up to hear the discussion. Brodale discussed previous hospital shooting incidents in other communities and proposed the change to allow guns in the facility for protection of staff and patients. Several people expressed concerns both for and against the issue, which will have to be presented to the hospital board before final approval.

Harold Rex Wintermote

Harold Rex Wintermote, 79, of Bloomfield died Feb. 20. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bloomfield Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Wintermotes body has been donated to the University of Iowa. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date. Memorials have been established.

Mary V. Doll

Mary V. Doll, 91, of Bloomfield died Feb. 23 at the Bloomfield Care Center. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the Bloomfield Christian Church with the family present to greet friends from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Memorials have been established and may be left at the church or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market St. Memphis, MO 63555.
