Pre-contest concert is Tuesday night

The Davis County High School Music Department will host its pre-contest concert Tuesday night in the high school gymnasium. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Supervisors to meet Monday

The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday. The Board will consider estimates for a handicap ramp at the DHS building. They will discuss disposal of old window air conditioners and consider a rental agreement with SIEDA. The board will also talk with Kirby Moss in regard to an insurance renewal.

Candidates announced

Candidates for the June Primary Election have been announced. Four people will be battling for a chance to take over Dale Taylors seat on the Davis County Board of Supervisors. They include democrats Allan Bodkins and Dan Hutchings. Republican candidates include Adam D. Bridgman and Alan Yahnke. Auditor Linda Humphrey and Sheriff Dave Davis are seeking re-election and running unopposed on the democratic ballot for their offices. No republican candidates have filed nomination papers. State Representative Curt Hanson is seeking re-election to his seat in the Iowa Legislature. He is running unopposed. There are no candidates seeking election to his seat on the Republican ballot.

DC Fair Quilt blocks available

The Davis County Fair has announced its quilt block competition for 2016. Packets for the contest can be picked up at the Davis County Recorders office and at Upholstery and Sew Forth. The theme for this years contest is Stars and the deadline to return the quilt block is July 1.

Library board to meet Tuesday

The Bloomfield Public Library Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the library. An architect from ASK Studios will discuss the building update and there will be a Construction Committee Report on a discussion with the Genealogy Society. The board will be developing a volunteer vetting process, and committee reports will be given.

Jeanine Ella Wilfawn

Jeanine Ella Wilfawn, 86, of Bloomfield died April 30 at the Davis County Hospital. Graveside services with burial of the cremated remains will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties and the Heartland Human Society in Ottumwa. Wagler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences may be directed to www.waglerfuneralhome.com.

Golf team finishes second

The Lady Mustang golf team finished second Monday night in a golf meet against Centerville and Albia. Centerville won the meet while Albia finished third. Davis County finished second and was led by Kelly Lynch who had a 55. Briley Dixon had a 59. Bailey Spurgeon shot a 60 and Sydney Spargur shot a 61. Davis County returns to action Tuesday with a golf meet at Moravia. Action begins at 4 p.m.
