A. A. meetings to resume in Bloomfield Thursday

Alcoholics Anonymous will return to Bloomfield this week after not meeting for the past several years.

Pastor Tim Frasher of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and two other individuals are working together to bring back the meetings in an effort to help others.

The first meeting of the group will be held Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at the Old School Social Center.

The group will be meeting weekly, but the first meeting will be an open meeting not only for those who want to address addiction problems, but for those who are in supporting roles as well. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. The primary purpose of the fellowship is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.

East Street intersection closed Friday

DPW Ted Henderson announced Friday that the East Street intersection will be closed Friday and will remain closed until the end of the project. This leaves no access for residents who live between East Street and Brown Street forcing them to park either one of those two streets.

The closing of the East Street intersection also cuts off full access to the high school parking lot, which means students will have to park in the pool parking and in other locations.
