Anyone still wishing to run for a county-elected office who wasn’t on the June Primary ballot has just one day left to file papers with the Davis County Auditor’s office.
The filing period was Aug. 4 through Aug. 27. Papers must be filed in the Auditor’s office by 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Anyone wishing to run for a non-partisan office such as the Davis County Hospital Board, Davis County Soil and Water Conservation Board, Davis County Agricultural Extension Board, township trustees and township clerks must obtain nomination papers from the auditor’s office and get 50 signatures from local residents before filing those nomination papers.
Papers can also be obtained by visiting the Iowa Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.iowa.gov/elections/candidates.
Anyone wishing to run for county offices such as the board of supervisors, county recorder and county treasurer may also take out and file nomination papers even though they weren’t on the ballot in June.
If nomination papers aren’t filed by 5 p.m. Wednesday, names will not be included on the November General Election ballot.
