Sheriff expresses concerns about sex abuse against children

Davis County Sheriff Dave Davis expressed concerns last week with the growing number of sex abuse cases that his office is investigating. Between January of 2000 and the present, 41 individuals have been charged and arrested for sexually abusing minors in Davis County. A total of 168 felony charges have been filed on those individuals.

School board discusses open positions

The Davis County School Board learned Monday night the district is working to replace eight staff vacancies before the 2014-2015 school year.

The board approved the transfer of Michelle Grove to the high school business department but learned that school officials were going to re-evaluate Grove’s middle school position before hiring someone to fill that position. Classroom skills such as keyboarding may be moved into the lower elementary grades since kids are using computers at a much younger age.

The board approved replacement materials for the elementary math curriculum, approved a food vendor agreement and voted to raise school lunch prices by 25 cents.
