Supervisors to meet Monday

The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. The board will consider an employee retirement and a new officer at 10 a.m. The board will consider the assignment of a tax sale certificate to the city of Pulaski.

Jail open house, public inforation meeting set for Saturday

The Davis County Sheriffs Department will host a public open house at the Davis County Jail Saturday afternoon. The open house will be from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and the public is invited see the facility. A public informational meeting about the jail will also be held Saturday evening at the Bloomfield Fire Station. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. and will allow Sheriffs Department officials the chance to educate the public about why a new jail facility is needed.

Bloomfield to become pilot community for energy independence

Plans are underway for Bloomfield to become a pilot community for energy independence. The city is working with the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The city could become a statewide model for innovative energy practices. Wednesdays Bloomfield Democrat features a story about the program and how it will affect the city. Other top stories include the school district facing possible cuts due to the lack of state funding. Twenty four cars were burglaries last weekend in Bloomfield. Lynn Davidson has been hired as the new program director for Bloomfield Main Street. This weeks edition also features special stories about working women in the community. Wednesday is administrative professionals day.

Davidson named Main Street Director

Lyn Davidson of rural Bloomfield was recently named the new Bloomfield Main Street Program Director. Davidson becomes the director at a time when Main Street is busy with several large projects such as the streetscape project, upper story housing rehabilitation, and an energy independence project. Davidson began her duties with Main Street this week.

The Lady Mustangs finished second Thursday at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont meet. The Mustangs shot a 214 team score and finished second behind Pleasantville.

Mustang golfers finish sixth

The Mustang golf team finished sixth Thursday afternoon in the Davis County Invitational. The Mustangs shot a 384 team score and were led by Logan Faler who shot a 77.
