Supervisors to meet Monday

The Davis County Board of Supervisors agenda for Monday morning includes: 9 a.m., meet with county engineer to approve amendment revising 2018 5-year program; meet with Sheriff Davis regarding jailer-dispatcher position; meet with Carol Herbert regarding Title VI program review results and limited English proficiency policy; treasurer's semi-annual report; Davis Center nurse call system repair; mental health coordinator position; 10:30 a.m. closed session per Iowa Code Section 21.5(c) to discuss litigation strategy regarding real estate.

DC Baseball Softball Association to meet Monday night

The Davis County Baseball Softball Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday night in the board room at the Davis County School's administrative offices on South Washington Street. The Davis County Baseball Softball Association was formed earlier this month when a group of community volunteers agreed to get together to begin an effort to raise funds to build ball diamonds. Anyone interested in helping to build additional ball diamonds in the community is encouraged to attend the meeting.

School's building and grounds committee to meet Tuesday morning

The Davis County School Board's building and grounds committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the old high school building. The agenda calls for a walk-through ouf the building that will begin at the west door. The committee will discuss plans for asbestos abatement and will discuss possible future uses of the building.



Pam Runyon

Pamela Ruth Pilcher Runyon, 68, of Eldon died July 22 at her home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Her body will be cremated after the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family for her granddaughter's education.

Football camp being held this week

The Davis County High School Football program will host its annual youth football camp at the middle school practice field. July 25-27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each night. The camp is open to all school age boys from first grade through 12th. grade. The camp is being conducted by all middle school and high school coaches. Players will earn fundamentals of the game, speed and agility, lifting and character building.

Yahnke named to all-conference squad

Bailea Yahnke was named to the second team of the South Central Conference All-Conference teams. The announcemente was made by the coaches on Monday. Yahnke was the only Davis County player selected to the team this year. Jordan Lough, Shelby Clark and Katie Hunter were also named as honorable mention selections.

Four Mustangs named to all-district squad

Trevor Slayton and Kade Tharp were named to the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association All-District team. The teams were released Tuesday. Slayton was named as a first team second-baseman and Tharp was named as a utility player. Second team selections include Nick Slayton as a third baseman and Stone Sample as an outfielder.
