Altheide takes out nomination papers

Jo Altheide of rural Bloomfield is the only one to file nomination papers for the Davis County Hospital Board. Altheide filed those papers on Aug. 27, which was the last day to file papers. Altheide’s name will be the only candidates name placed on the November Ballot for the Davis County Hospital Board Election.

Roger Wuthrich and Ralph Hopkins are candidates in Cleveland Township for the township trustee elections. Other township trustee candidates include; Dan Bodkins and Bryan Moore, Drakesville Township; Adam Bridgman and Richard Long, Fox River Township; Larry Hanna and Roberta McClure, Lick Creek Township; Lonnie Archer and Virgil Cassill, Marion Township. Michael More is being placed on the ballot in Marion to fill a vacancy. Kay Rickelman and Culver Kline are candidates in Roscoe township.

Seven townships will have only one candidate’s name on the ballot. Those are Grove Township, Dean Amstutz; Fabius Township, Larry Lawson; Perry Township, Bruce Wortmann; Soap Creek Township, Carl sample; Union Township, James D. Bailey; West Grove Township, Steven Ward; and Wyacondah Township, Jerry Guinn.

Supervisors to meet Tuesday instead of Monday

The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday next week due to the Labor Day holiday. Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The board will meet with custodian Russell Lundstrum at 8:50 a.m.

During the secondary roads portion of the meeting at 9 a.m., the board will discuss a SIDCA project application, a Wyacondah pipe replacement and supplemental funding.

The board will discuss sidewalk repairs at the Davis Center at 10 a.m., meet with CPC Diane Buss at 10:30 a.m. and review the courthouse security plan at 10:45 a.m.

Donations being sought

Donations for an auction benefit for Dave and Trudy Bennett are being sought. The auction along with a soup supper will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6,

Ideas for auction items include themed baskets, quilts, afghans, crafts, woodcrafts, tools, gift certificates, baked goods, and more.

Baseball/Softball scoreboards

Lady Mustangs go 2-4 at Bondurant Farrar

The Lady Mustang volleyball team went 2-4 in the Bondurant-Farrar Tournament last Saturday.

Davis County scored wins over West Marshall and PCM but lost to Des Moines Roosevelt, West Des Moines Valley, Perry and Boone.

Davis County returns to action Tuesday night hosting Centerville in South Central Conference action. Matches begin at 5 p.m. with the freshmen match. The junior varsity and varsity matches will follow.

Mustangs lose to Fairfield

The Mustang football team suffered a 21-0 loss to Fairfield last Friday night.

Davis County gained less than 100 yards in total offense and struggled to contain the Trojans in the first half of the game.

The Mustangs will spend this week getting ready to play Chariton in one more non-district game before the start of the Class 2A District 7 schedule. The game against Chariton will be Friday night at Chariton. The varsity game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
