Lee charged in connection with accident

Rocky Lee, 19, of rural Davis County is facing one charge of homicide by vehicle and two counts of serious injury by vehicle in connection with a Jan. 24 auto accident. The three charges were filed in Davis County District Court Tuesday morning. Lee was driving a 2003 Ford pickup in that accident and lost control of the vehicle. As a result of the crash three passengers were ejected and Mariah Marshall, 17, of rural Davis County was killed.

Supreme court opinion goes against Nicoletto

The Iowa Supreme Court issued a ruling April 24 stating that former Davis County High School coach Patrick Ryan Nicoletto does not deserve state compensation for being wrongfully imprisoned. Supreme Court Justices reversed a decision made by District Court Judge Daniel Wilson. Nicoletto was convicted of sexual exploitation of a student on July 30, 2012. Nicoletto accused the state of wrongful imprisonment even though he spent only a few hours in the custody of the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

Power point presentation for jail proposal posted online

The Davis County Jail Feasibility Committee is entering the final week before a bond referendum vote for a newly proposed Davis County Law Center. The committee along with Davis County Sheriff Dave Davis hosted one last public open house of the jail on Saturday and also hosted a public meeting at 5 p.m. to present information about how the committee came to the determination that a new facility was needed. The Mustang tennis team hosts Chariton at 4:15 p.m. The Lady Mustang track team travels to Chariton for a meet at 5 p.m. The Mustang track team hosts the Mustang Relays Tuesday evening. The meet begins at 5 p.m. at Mustang Stadium.
