School board to meet Tuesday night

The Davis County School Board will hold a pair of special meetings Tuesday night. At 6 p.m. the board will consider a human resources manager position and approve a sharing agreement with Cardinal School District. The board will also consider an increase in substitute teacher pay to $120 per day and discuss the Iowa Association of School Board area meetings and convention. At 6:15 p.m. the board will meet to discuss the Sept. 8 bond election results and will discuss possibilities for moving forward with facility improvements.

Absentee ballots available for city election

The Davis County Auditor’s Office announced that absentee ballots are now available for the Nov. 3 city election. Council members in Bloomfield, Floris, Drakesville and Pulaski are up for re-election this year. Voters may cast ballots at the Davis County Auditor’s Office or may also request ballots be sent by mail.

Council takes no action on energy efficiency items

The Bloomfield City Council. took no action regarding an On-Bill pilot project, which would cost the city approximately $150,000. The council also took no action regarding financial incentives for the city’s energy efficiency program. The council briefly discussed what to do with the water plant building once the city switches to Rathbun Regional Water. No decisions were made. The council agreed to close Jefferson Street for a tourism event.

Knoxville wins band show

Knoxville won the Davis County Festival of Bands Saturday night in Bloomfield. They scored 75.9 points and beat out second place Washington who scored 75.3 points. Davis County performed in exhibition scoring 69.1 points. overall.

Library board to meet Tuesday

The Bloomfield Library Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. The board will discuss an ordinance change that will go on the November ballot and an Americorp grant. The board will discuss a schematic design to present to the city council.

Mustangs lose to Albia, face North Polk Friday

The Mustang football team fell to 1-5 Friday night after suffering a 50-0 loss to Albia in Class 2A District 7 action. Davis County returns to action this week hosting North Polk.

Sandra Lee Bolick

Sandra Lee Bolick, 58, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday in West Burlington. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. at Wilson Funeral home in Kahoka, Mo. with visitation following the services until 8 p.m. Inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Hospital Cancer Center.
