DCH told to repay $100,000 to AmeriHealth

Davis County Hospital CEO Kirby Johnson told the Hospital Board Monday night that AmeriHealth Caritas has contacted the hospital seeking reimbursement for $100,000 in funds provided for heart testing and suicide prevention services it claims were not emergencies. Johnson told the board that the company wants the hospital to either issue a check or have the costs deducted from future reimbursements. Claims had been submitted for screenings for possible heart attacks and a suicide possibility and more. Johnson called the issue a crisis and told the board it could have a huge impact on the hospital. The board also learned that other Mercy Hospital affiliates are also being asked to return funds as well. Hospital officials plan to fight AmeriHealth's decision and are working with legislators to determine a course of action. Wednesdays Bloomfield Democrat features a story about the issue.
