COVID-19 cases in Davis and surrounding counties continue to slowly climb as the month of June comes to an end.

Davis County reached 37 cases Sunday with Davis County Public Health reporting the latest patient in the 61-80 age range. Wapello County reached the 700 mark Tuesday morning, and Jefferson County’s count rose to 53.

Monroe County has recorded 50 cases; Van Buren County 18; and Appanoose County 20.

State totals near the 29,000 mark with 28,936 cases recorded Tuesday morning — an increase of 208 cases since Monday.

IDPH has recorded 23,005 recoveries in the state. Davis County listed 32 recoveries Tuesday morning — an increase of six over Monday’s total of 26. Monroe lists 43 as recovered; Wapello 651; Jefferson 47; Van Buren 13, and Appanoose 17.

Wapello County has recorded one more death since Monday for a total of 30. Monroe has listed six deaths, Appanoose County three, and Davis County one. There have been 712 deaths statewide attributed to the highly-contagious coronavirus.

Davis County Public Health urges Davis County residents to wear masks, be diligent about hand washing, and follow social-distancing regulations.

Individuals who have symptoms of illness, particularly fever and cough or shortness of breath, should call their medical provider for an assessment of whether they can recover at home or need to be seen by a provider.
