The May edition of the Floris Co-op dinner is coming up next week. We invite all Floris area current and former residents to join us Wednesday noon, May 5 at the Community Hall. Bring a dish or two to share, expect a great time of visiting for an hour or so.

We normally skip the busy summer months, so September will probably be our next opportunity for this time of fellowship around bountiful food.

At church, we have enjoyed having our pastor’s wife’s sister, Jenny, with us. She came up from Florida a few weeks ago. Can you imagine the change of climate she experienced as she arrived here?

Perhaps it has been a bit cooler than usual, but the upside of lower temps can be a prolonged season of blossoms on flowering shrubs and trees.

Certainly the Eastern Redbuds are now in their glory, as are many of the white-bloomers. It seems to us that high winds and premature warm weather shorten blooming periods in the spring.

The weather was beautiful Sunday morning. A bit cool as our worship service began in Cantril and much warmer after the service in Troy. The bright sunshine was a welcome sight and warmed us as we left for our homes.

The blessing box in front of the Troy Elevator is stocked with groceries as well as some paper and hygiene products. Please share this news with those in the community. Boxes will be available in Pulaski and Floris soon. Bloomfield and Drakesville boxes are well used. You may also use the boxes to give to others.

During worship we listened to verses from Psalm 18:1-6 and Exodus 15:22-27.

Psalm 18:2 tells us that “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior: my God IS my rock in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”

Exodus 15:26b tells us Moses spoke that God said to him, “I am the Lord who heals you.”

Psalm 18:19 tells us, “Because He delights in me, He saved me.”

God really loves us. You thought He saved you because you are a decent person. You thought He saved you because of your good works or good attitude or good looks. Sorry, if that were true your salvation would be lost when your voice failed or your works got weak. There are many reasons God saves you.

One of the sweetest reasons God saved you is because He is fond of you. Okay, He is in love with you. He likes having you around. “As man rejoices over his new wife, so your God will rejoice over you.” (Isaiah 62:5)

If God had a refrigerator your picture would be on it. If He had a cell phone it would be full of photos of you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He listens. He lives within your heart.

And the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem.....Face it, He’s crazy about you.

Your relationship with God is your responsibility. He is always there with you; He delights in you.

Join us for worship Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. in Cantril and 10:30 a.m. in Troy.
