A new courtyard bandstand-gazebo will soon be under construction in the southwest corner of the courtyard.
Supervisors Alan Yahnke and Ron Bride met with contractors Friday morning to iron out several details on the 23-foot-wide structure that will serve as a gathering place for courtyard activities.
Farney Concrete, Gingerich Construction, and Wiggy Electric have been hired as contractors for the project.
Bride said the octagonal structure would have eight open sides with a slate roof of metal shakes supported by eight round pillars. A copper finial will grace the top of the roof.
Three of the eight sides will have wide concrete shallow steps that will serve as risers. An ADA ramp with a black metal railing will encircle the other five sides for handicap accessibility.
A five-foot wide sidewalk will go surround the gazebo and connect to an existing sidewalk.
Lights will be installed in the fascia and come on automatically at dusk. Lights on a switch will also be installed in the ceiling of the gazebo.
Bride said the structure is estimated to cost $75,000. Funds for the gazebo are coming from American Rescue Plan monies and the Davis County Community Foundation. No property taxes are being used for the project.
Bloomfield native Rudy Evans who now resides in Omaha designed the new bandstand-gazebo.
