Indian Hills Community College will be celebrating “Feeding your future: IHCC GEAR UP Week” September 21-25. The GEAR UP program is an initiative from the federal government that stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. Some of the 2020 programming includes:

• Monday, September 21—Donuts and Dreams: A Sweet Look at the Future

• Tuesday, September 22—Pizza and Planning: Career Planning Made Easy

• Wednesday, Sept 23—Sweet Success Study Tools

• Thursday, Sept 24—Chip Away at Student Debt: Understanding Financial Aid

All four days of the GEAR UP initiative will be hosted by program coordinator Jennifer Rotole at the Potoven Student Success Center inside the Arts & Sciences building on the Ottumwa Campus.  If COVID-19 guidelines allow, food and refreshment will be provided.

GEAR UP Iowa on the Indian Hills campus is dedicated to supporting underserved students as they pursue postsecondary education. This program strives to ensure that all students—especially low-income and first-generation students—have the opportunity to succeed in life after high school. Through our advocacy efforts, IHCC is acting to expand and sustain college access, readiness, and success using relationships and retention.

Indian Hills is striving to build the capacity of our community to ensure all underserved students have the opportunity, skills, and knowledge to successfully pursue the education and training that will enable them to achieve their career and life goals right here in Ottumwa and Centerville. We work towards a future where all students are empowered and equipped with the education and training needed to succeed in a diverse and global society.
