Despite the cloudy weather, Maker’s Space at Pulaski Lumber sported a large crowd for their September Maker’s Space Vendor Show and first annual cornhole tournament.

In addition, owners Chris and Leann Luedke announced important updates for their Maker’s Space building.

Since its first show in September of 2019, Maker’s Space at Pulaski Lumber has continued to grow during their monthly Second Saturday event. Each month features various vendors and Sandy’s Food Truck has also been on location for multiple events.

This month’s show hosted their first annual cornhole tournament with ten adult teams and two children’s teams participating. Winners of the children’s tournament were Aubrie and Jerilyn Garmon, with Dimitri Garrison and Hayden Garmon taking second.

Of the ten adult teams that played, first-place winners were James Thudium and Wesley Deevers. Second-place winners were Jayden Ball and Emmitt Newton, and Ryan Reed and Blaine Caldwell took third. The top three winning teams each won a prize. First place team took home $100, second place received a $25 gift certificate and EZ Catch rod holder, and third place won a bucket of Pulaski Lumber “swag.”

Since the August vendor show, Pulaski Lumber and Maker’s Space have hosted a giveaway. Participants had various ways to enter between August 8 and September 12, with the winners to be announced after the September vendor show. Lisa Bell received Adventureland tickets; Dorothy Stogdill, Kimberly Lynch, Meagen Pickens, Cody Smith, and Doug Veatch received tickets to the Blank Park Zoo; Andrew Brown received an Essential Massage gift certificate; Kyle Prevo received a Milwaukee Tool of $179 value; and Keith Amstutz was given a bucket of Pulaski Lumber Co. “swag.”

Chris and Leann Luedke were both excited to announce the permanent addition of Beautiful Nutrition by Carla Spurgeon in the Maker’s Space building. She will be opening on Thursday, October 1 with a grand opening to be held Saturday, October 10 during the next vendor show. Her hours will be Monday to Friday 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Beautiful Nutrition is a nutrition club that sells items such as healthy shakes, clean energy drinks, and the opportunity to add healthier options to drinks like protein and collagen. Spurgeon has worked in the Centerville location named Fearless Nutrition, owned by Charity Hobbs, and expressed her excitement to expand to Pulaski. “I think it is going to bring so much to this small town. It’s a great place over here,” Spurgeon commented.

The front area of the Maker’s Space building will act as a showroom where vendors that normally attend the Second Saturday events can also set up more permanent placement throughout the month. One of these vendors, Tracey Miller, who sells Young Living Oils, plans to have an open booth two to three days a week.

Jeremy Breeding, a member of the Pulaski City Council, attended the event and stated, “I am very grateful for what Chris and Leann are doing here in Pulaski.”

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pulaski has lost its gas station on Highway 2 in addition to the cancellation of the Annual Pulaski Corn Show.

The October Maker’s Space event will be held Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
