Mulberry Place is participating in Assisted Living Week activities from Sept. 13-19, said Manager Gloria Garner.
The theme for the week is “Caring is Essential,” and Garner encourages all family members and friends to share notes and cards with the tenants who have had limited visiting opportunities due to the pandemic.
The week began with a special breakfast for the tenants on Sept. 13, which was also National Grandparents Day.
For the residents, the focus of the week will be on supporting the Alzheimer’s Association through walking inside and outside and recording distances.
Garner said the sub-title of the event is “Knock Down Alzheimer’s,” and residents will also do inside bowling and record the times and records for each person.
Residents began collecting funds for the Alzheimer’s event at the beginning of the year, and, so far, have collected over $350.
John Stookesberry of Edward Jones will visit with the residents remotely and give a program on the Alzheimer’s Association.
Other events for the week include crafts, an international meal, game day, Nature Bingo, and reminiscing.
