Students and faculty at Davis County Schools are mourning the loss of DCHS physical education instructor and coach, Mick Kauzlarich.
Kauzlarich, age 59, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Superintendent Dan Maeder said, “We are mourning the loss of a Davis County Schools’ family member. Mick meant a lot to a lot of people and will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to his family and his school family.”
Maeder said Emily Hill will be subbing in Kauzlarich’s position for the present.
“We’re grieving first, then we’ll decide how to fill the position,” he said.
Maeder said Kauzlarich was “a terrific person, teacher, and coach for many years. We are asking the community to keep his family and our school family in their thoughts and prayers.”’
Services for Kauzlarich will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, at Faith United Methodist Church in Centerville. Burial will follow at Haines Cemetery.
Visitation is set for 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the church.
