Two vehicles were totaled in an accident that occurred at 2:05 p.m. on Sept. 2.

Staci Veach of Centerville, eastbound on Highway 2, was stopped at the intersection of Highway 2 and Ice Avenue while waiting for a vehicle in front of her to turn left onto Ice Avenue.

David Calhoun of Bloomfield came up behind her and failed to stop in time, striking her vehicle in the rear end.

Veach’s SUV suffered $10,000 in damages as did Calhoun’s Dodge Charger. Both vehicles were declared totaled.

Veach was transported by ambulance to Davis County Hospital, but was said to be uninjured. Calhoun’s air bags deployed, but he was uninjured.

Calhoun was charged with failure to maintain control. The accident report stated he was adjusting devices (radio and climate control) when the accident occurred.

Another accident occurred at 7:43 p.m. on Sept. 2 when a deer ran into the roadway on Highway 2 and struck the side of a Chevy Malibu driven by Rickey Spurgeon of Overland Park, Kan.

Spurgeon’s Malibu suffered $2,000 in damages but was able to be driven away from the scene.
