Cheerleaders ‘Meet the Mustangs’ video posted

DCHS fall cheerleaders’ “Meet the Mustangs” video was posted on the Bloomfield Democrat’s Facebook page and is ready for viewing by the public

Due to the pandemic, Meet the Mustangs became a virtual event this year rather than being held in the Davis County Courtyard.

Video introductions of the high school football, cross country, and volleyball teams were posted earlier as well as DCHS Band and Choir videos.

School approves contracts

The Davis County Community School Board approved contracts for the following positions Wednesday, Sept. 9:

• Bailey Harward, EL Associate II

• Susan Hougland, MS Associate 1

• Brady Johnson, EL Associate II

• Sara Kreps, PT nurse

• Dave Mason, TLC New Teacher Guide

• Shevy Miller, MS Associate II

• Jill Nelson, TLC PLT Leader

• Kelsi Sankot, one-year contract as a long-term substitute

Brooms and Brews postponed

Bloomfield Main Streets’ downtown cleanup project, Brooms and Brews, was postponed to Tuesday, Sept. 22, due to last week’s rain.

Main Street is inviting all interested volunteers to meet at the Main Street office at 4 p.m. Sept. 15 for a one-hour clean-up session of the downtown area. Volunteers should bring brooms, buckets, and gloves in preparation for picking up trash, pulling weeds, and doing other general cleanup.

Chris Miller of Slick’s will be serving a free beverage of choice to each volunteer following the cleanup.

Floris Fish Fry set

The Floris Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual fish fry on Saturday, September 19 from 5-8 p.m.

Their menu includes: fish, potatoes, sides, “Church Lady” desserts, and homemade ice cream.

There will be a brush buggy on display, a table full of natural health information, and details about the station expansion.

Drive-thru will be available and the event is free will offering.

Snyder enrolls at Central College

Luke Snyder of Bloomfield enrolled at Central College for the Fall 2020 semester.

Central College of Pella, is a private, four-year liberal arts college. Central is known for its academic rigor, leadership and character development, global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and sustainability education, athletics and service.
