Elaine Jeanette Butler, 83, of Bloomfield passed away on September 8, 2019 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born August 16, 1936 in Oregon. When she was 13, she was adopted by Elmer and Ruby Mattice Boom.

Elaine was a big Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed watching sporting events on television. She also liked flowers and animals, especially cats. In her younger days, Elaine was an active member of the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Cooke and fiancé Juanita Marquez of Oskaloosa; daughter, Suzanne (Todd) Cheever of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Chanelle Thompson of Allerton and Trisha Thompson of Radcliffe; four great-grandchildren, Breanna Long, Alieah Oelschlager, Kallie Oelschlager, Sofia Thompson; sister, Anne Gordy of Bloomfield; and a brother, Dennis (Linda) Boom of Oakland, Calif.

Elaine’s wish was to be cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family. Online condolences may be directed to www.waglerfuneralhome.com.
