Kelly Duane Pottorff, 57, of St. Francis, Kan., passed away peacefully on January, 10, 2020 at his home with his wife, Janell, by his side.
Kelly was born July 29, 1962 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Ronald Isham Pottorff and Betty Tarrence Pottorff. On February 14, 1987 he married Janell B. Johnson at the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa.
Kelly was a 1980 graduate of Davis County High School. He earned his Associates degree at Indian Hills Community College and his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. He was presently serving as the CEO of the Cheyenne County Hospital in St. Francis, Kan.
Kelly was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and he thoroughly enjoyed watching them play both football and basketball. He always enjoyed his and Janell’s yearly trip to Iowa City for a football game.
Kelly was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and lastly the Mark Baptist Church. He was a Rotary member and past president of the organization as well as a Little League coach. He liked to play golf, fish and hunt in his spare time. Most of all he enjoyed traveling with Janell or working around their home and yard and being with their two dogs.
Most importantly, Kelly loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Janell; his parents; his sister, Sherri Guiter, and husband Mike of Bloomfield; mother-in-law, Joy Johnson, of Kirksville, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Brenda Johnson and Jill Felice and husband Tony of Kirksville, Mo., Beth Fittro, of Springfield, Mo., and Danita Roberts and husband Goldie of Bloomfield; nieces and nephews, Cami and Clay Guiter, Stikie Panos and wife Tiffany, Nicholas Panos and wife Kristy, Justin Yates and wife Cara, Linsey Warden and husband Brian; Alizabeth Cloud and husband Dewey, Keith Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Dylan Felice, Anthony Felice and wife Tonya; several aunts, uncles and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law, Dewayne “Tick” Johnson.
As per Kelly’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bloomfield Christian Church on Feb. 22, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. for family and friends. Cards and memorials may be made to his wife, Janell, at 611 S. Quincy, St. Francis, Kan. 67756.
