Larry Wayne Derby, 76, of Bloomfield, died Feb. 9, 2021 at his home.
He was born July 5, 1944 in Jefferson County to Clyde and Marjorie Baker Derby. He married Marjeana Reece on August 5, 1972.
A graduate of Delta High School, Larry earned a degree in mechanics from Indian Hills Community College. He owned and operated SIRCO repair shop in Milton. Larry drove a semi-truck for Carlberg & Sons of Eldon. He worked for Midland Brick Plant until it closed, and Dexter in Fairfield for over 15 years before retiring.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working on his farm. He attended the Iowa State Fair and the Old Threshers Reunion every year. Larry especially loved spending time with his family and friends, and feeding ice cream to his dog, Molly, who passed away with him.
Surviving are his wife, Marjeana; their children, Terry (Debbie) Derby of Ottumwa, Tracy (Joe) Clawson of Bloomfield, and Tom Derby (Katie Wyers) of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Ashley Hoover (Rich Baker), Kristen (Ross) King, Natasha (Kris) Musgrove, Cooper Derby and Parker Derby; two great-grandchildren, Rhys King and Rory Baker; a brother, Clyde Laverne Derby of Newport News, Va.; sister-in-law, Holly Helveston of Perry; brother-in-law, Chuck Lane of Independence; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Ruth Ann Reece of St. Louis, Mo. and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Chris Derby.
His body has been cremated. Services are not planned at this time.
