Ruth Faye White, 83, of Bloomfield passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Ruth was born Dec. 3, 1935 in Hampton, the daughter of Lester and Laura (Behn) Dohrmann. She received her education from Franklin Consolidated High School and played 6-on-6 basketball as a guard. Her team played in the State Tournament in 1952 and 1953. Ruth was named to the All-State Team in 1953.

After high school she worked in the Farm Bureau office and married Dwight LeRoy White on Dec. 29, 1957 in Hampton. Dwight and Ruth lived in Waterloo when they were first married, and then moved to a farm near Knoxville for five years.

In 1965 they began farming near Bloomfield where they raised sheep cattle, crops and Border Collies.  Ruth was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a leader of the New Cloverettes Can 4-H Club and active in the Davis County Sheep Producers.

Ruth worked at a bank in Lancaster, Mo., after raising her children. She enjoyed fishing, was an excellent seamstress and made the best apple pie. In recent years, she enjoyed water aerobics and time spent with family and friends.

Ruth is survived by three children; Tom White of Belknap, Lynn Blanchard (Wes) of Indianola, Laurie Kruzich (John) of Nevada; seven grandchildren, KaLeigh White of Iowa City, Seth White of Kansas City, Adam, Daniel and Anna Blanchard of Indianola, Austin and Allison Kruzich of Nevada, and a brother, Richard Dohrmann of Hamptom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and son, David White.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m., at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bloomfield.

Visitation will be held June 22 from 10-11 a.m., at the church.

Lunch and time of fellowship to follow the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Iowa 4-H foundation to be used for college scholarships or the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Bloomfield.
