Shelby Motykowski makes contact with this pitch in last week's game against Albia. Motykowski pulled the ball down the third base line on this play, resulting in an Albia error. She scored later in the inning on an RBI single from Ashton Madden.

Davis County lost their third game in a row Thursday afternoon against the visiting Albia Lady Dees. Albia pounded Davis County pitching for 19 hits in a 19-4 South Central Conference matchup.

The Lady Mustangs were outmatched against the formidable Albia lineup. The Lady Dees scored 19 runs on the Lady Mustangs and collected 19 hits in the seven inning game.

Most of the runs scored for Albia came in two big innings. The Lady Dees scored seven runs in the third inning and added six more in the top of the seventh. Albia’s offense scored in five of the seven innings.

Davis County put together a decent offensive game against Albia’s pitcher. Sophia Young drew a walk to lead off the game. She came around to score on a double off the bat of Macy Hill.

The Lady Mustangs had a chance to score second but couldn’t get the runs across.

Davis County added two more runs in the third inning. Hill and Sydney Henderson both walked with two outs. An Ashton Madden single brought in Hill and another single by Madison Dunlavy brought in Henderson.

An error on the Lady Dees allowed Shelby Motykowski to reach first base in the fifth inning. Henderson and Madden again went back-to-back with singles that scored Motykowski.

Davis County was unable to get another run across and Albia’s offense was too much as the Lady Mustangs were defeated 19-4.
