The Lady Mustang tennis team continues to play well on the courts this spring. Davis County faced Knoxville April 22 and scored an 8-1 win over the Panthers in South Central Conference action.
Davis County won five out of six singles matches and swept the doubles competition to secure the team victory.
In singles action Bella Tranquilino faced Olivia Masdaam and beat her 2-0. Tranquilino won the first set 6-2 and scored a 6-1 win in the second set.
Avery Thompson suffered the only loss of the day. She faced Alyssa Vaske and lost her singles match in a tiebreak. Thompson won the first set 7-5 despite a hard-fought and close battle. Vaske won the second set 7-5 as the two continued to battle back-and-forth all night long. Vaske won the match after winning a tiebreaking game with a 10-4 score.
Morgan Klaus scored a 2-0 win over Jadyn Streigle by scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Maddie Warning beat Laila Tiller by scores of 6-3 and 6-2 to win that match 2-0.
Jenna Marlow faced Riley Dailey and scored wins of 6-2 and 6-4 to win that match in straight sets.
Jada Will faced Elle Ensor and dominated that match winning by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
In doubles action, Tranquilino and Thompson beat Masdaam and Vaske in straight sets by scores of 6-0 and 6-4. Klaus and Warning beat Streigle and Tiller by scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Marlow and Will teamed up to beat Dailey and Ensor by scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
In Junior varsity action, Madeline Barker and Leah Rudd won a 6-1 doubles match. Megan Swan and Kennedy Lee scored a 6-0 win in their doubles match. Emerson Glosser and Veronica Yoder suffered a 6-4 loss. Ashley Hall and Lily Cremer suffered a 4-1 loss. Bethany Porter won 6-2 in a singles match. Julia Hill lost her singles match 6-3 and Mary Jones lost 6-2 in her singles match. Lee lost a 4-3 singles match. Barker and Swan teamed up in a doubles match to win 4-0.
“Overall, I thought the girls played really well in this meet,” said Coach Brian Skaggs.
