The Lady Mustang bowling team scored another victory Jan. 17 in a meet at Pella. Davis County beat the Little Dutch by 195 pins on Pella’s home lanes.
The girls bowled well in the Baker games to put some distance between themselves and Pella when the final scores were tallied. Davis County finished with a Baker game series of 723. They bowled games of 145, 122, 135, 177 and 144. Pella finished with a 626 in their Baker game series after rolling games of 122, 148, 122, 139 and 95.
Nevaeh Link led all bowlers in the meet with a 325 series. She rolled a 149 in the opening game and found a good spot in the lanes during the second game. She upped her score to 176 in the second game.
Mikey Burns also finished with a two-game series above 300. She rolled a 305 with games of 155 and 155. Taylor Bridgeman finished with a 278 series after games of 129 and 149. Kodi Pearson rolled a 268 with games of 134 and 134.
Jaden Garrett finished with a 248 series with games of 145 and 103. Maddie Replogle rolled a 204 with games of 113 and 91.
Pella’s top bowler rolled a 319 series. They also recorded two-game series scores of 272, 270, 238, 227 and 215.
Davis County won the meet with a 2,147 team score while Pella rolled a 1,952.
“The Lady Mustangs bowled great in this meet. They are closing meets out with solid Baker games. With post season three weeks away, we are happy with the way they are bowling now. Like always, we will continue to work on first-ball execution and spare shooting as this will make the difference during post season,” said Coach Jason Rook.
In the boys’ meet, Davis County struggled on the Pella lanes and couldn’t find consistency with their bowling efforts.
Pella rolled a 2,651 on their home lanes while Davis County finished with a 2,270.
Jordan Twedt led the effort for Davis County with a 358 series. He rolled games of 186 and 172. Tucker Thomas and Max McCoy both rolled series scores of 310. Thomas bowled games of 121 and 189. McCoy rolled games of 152 and 158.
Tristan Thomas finished with a 297 series after games of 175 and 122. Kaden Haskell rolled games of 145 and 150 for a 295 series. Michael Prevo finished with a 225 series after rolling games of 106 and 119. Davis County finished the individual competition with a 1,570 while Pella rolled a 1,778.
Pella also won the Baker games with an 873. Davis County rolled a 700. Davis County’s game scores were 138, 140, 177, 108 and 137. Pella rolled Baker games of 207, 183, 168, 165 and 150.
“The boys appear to be in a slump. Their team scores have dropped since the first of the year and they are not bowling up to their potential,” said Coach Jason Rook. “With two meets left and post season three weeks away, we will work on confidence as we know they can bowl better than they have been.”
