Logan Hale catches the ball from Draven DeKraai on this play in the frist inning of last week's game with Albia. If the throw would have been just a half second later, Albia's Nathan Crall would have been safe on the play. Instead, the Mustangs retired the Albia leadoff batter on their way to a 2-0 shutout victory.

The Mustangs started a winning streak last Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Albia.

Davis County scored both of their runs in the first inning. Trevor Slayton got things started with a one-out single to centerfield. He advanced to second base on a passed ball.

Draven DeKraai drove in the courtesy runner Caden Glosser on a single in to the left-center field gap. Two Albia errors on DeKraai’s single allowed him to come around and score for the Mustangs’ 2-0 lead.

Trevor Slayton got the ball for the Mustangs and threw a gem. Slayton was perfect through three innings and had a no-hitter through four innings. The no-no was broken up on a leadoff single in the top of the fifth inning.

Slayton got into a little trouble in the fifth inning. After the single, an error on a sacrifice bunt allowed runners to be on second and third with no outs.

A timely double play from Noah Zmolek at third to Logan Hale at first got the lead runner and the batter to leave a runner on second base with two outs.

Slayton got the third out on a weak ground ball to first base. The Mustangs’ defense shut down the Blue Demons for the next two innings en route to their third straight win.
