After winning the Van Buren Relays on Monday night, Davis County got back on the bus April 27 traveling to Chariton for another meet. The Lady Mustangs didn’t let that slow them down. The girls scored 183 points at Chariton to win the Class AA division of that meet.
Davis County won the meet easily beating second-place Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont by 76 points.
Davis County’s domination of these meets all stems from the fact that they have depth and can score multiple times in each event. Several races and field events found more than one Davis County athlete scoring in the top six to earn team points.
Cadan VanLaningham has been one of Davis County’s top sprinters all season. She won the 100 meters with a time of 13.21. Jersey Greever was third in the same race with a time of 14.08. VanLaningham also won the 200 meters with a time of 26.88. Clara Smith finished fourth with a time of 29.25.
In the 400 meters, Chloe Fetcho finished second with a time of 1:03.92. Addison Stuchel finished sixth in the same race with a time of 1:12.80.
Charley Barnhart is another who has been a consistent scorer for Davis County in multiple ways. Barnhart finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:37.31. Makayla Bachman finished fourth in the same race with a time of 2:49.60.
Macy Hill used her cross country running skills to help Davis County score in the 1500 meters. Hill won that race with a time of 5:30.96. Tatum Turner finished third in the same race with a time of 5:38.02.
Stephyn Wilfawn finished sixth overall in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished with a time of 18.06. Kallie Greiner finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.47. Wilfawn ran that race also and finished sixth with a time of 1:20.11.
Davis County boosted its team score quickly after winning four of the seven relay races in the meet. The Lady Mustangs secured 40 team points in those five races, which helped put some distance between them and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the team standings.
Davis County finished second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 53.02. Davis County won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:54.66. The girls also won the 4x400 with a time of 4:20.98. Davis County won the 4x800 with a time of 10:41.09 and also won the sprint medley relay with a time of 1:59.21.
Davis County finished fourth in the distance medley relay with a time of 4:59.31and finished sixth in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:30.01. Results presented to The Bloomfield Democrat did not contain a listing of the girls that ran in each of those relay races.
Greiner continues to offer consistency in the long jump for Davis County. She finished second with a jump of 16-0. Sydney Utt finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 14-9.
Chelsea Prevo had a toss of 30-1 in the shot put, which was good enough to earn her a third-place finish. Hill finished fourth with a toss of 29-9. Hill finished third in the discus with a toss of 103-8 while Prevo finished sixth. Her best toss was 87-9.
